Weigh in day 24?? Thats just crazy...
As you all know I had a sneaky weigh in on Wednesday and discovered I had dropped to an astonishing 17s 11 and 3/4lbs!
Unfortunately weight does fluctuate a wee bit, and today's weigh in day is a teeny bit higher but STILL under 18st which was my plateau.
Today's weigh in is:
17st 13 and 1/4lbs!
Being in the 17's now is difficult, because part of me wants to slack off a bit to celebrate but the other half (the one with sense) is telling me that its just time to work even harder so that I can power through the 17's and get to my goal of 17st 7lbs...which is in 3 weeks time!!
so I have 3 weeks to lose just over 6lbs...I think it can be done...but not if I slack off ;)
So here's to a busy weekend and forthcoming week of gymming and strict diet! if I can hit 17st 10 by Friday I'll be VERY happy...
At the beginning of 2013 I embarked on a weight loss goal. I began at 21st 11lbs and got all the way down to 17st 11lbs with the intention of going all the way to 15st Unfortunately I've fallen off the wagon...and regained a portion of that weight. I'm not up at 19st 4lbs and quite frankly terrified of the impending fact that it will not get better unless I return to my routine. So here we go again! A new goal, time to smash it!

Midweek update: BREAKING NEWS!!!!
Finally I have some absolutely EPIC news on the weight loss front!
As you know if you've been reading I forgot to do an official weigh in on Friday...which is fine because I've been mixing things up a lot anyway to try and break the plateau...
Weigh in days are still on Friday...
But today I took a sneaky peak at my weight and I'm absolutely ECSTATIC to announce that finally I have SMASHED through the plateau of 18st that has plagued me for about 6 or 7 weeks...
Not only that...another milestone has been reached.
Today my weight stood at 17st 11lbs and 3/4 - that's an exact loss of FOUR stone!!
I will do an official weigh in on Friday, it's likely not to change much...but just to be under 18st is an absolute major win!

Oops!
I actually completely forgot to record my weight on Friday...
I don't expect it to be great just yet...the muscle building is making me very strong and fit, but I think the actual weight won't be fantastic just yet!
I've started cutting out an extra couple of hundred calories a day now and that combined with the workouts now incorporating muscle building I think this Friday will see a really good result! Hopefully dropping into the 17's ;)
I think I'm finally starting to get over this plateau after almost 2 months! And with just under 4 weeks til my goal date (birthday) it's about bloody time!

Midweek update: The curse of muscle building
So it's been almost a week and a half since I started to mix my workouts up a lot and focus a lot on weight lifting and strength training!
I have been doing a good amount of cardio too, but 50% of my workout is now strength/resistance training involving dumbells and the resistance machines too! Working on legs, chest and arms.
It's feeling amazing! But it's very hard to look at the scales now...because with all the muscle work I am packing on a good chunk of muscle weight...
I know that I'm getting fitter and losing fat because my clothes are feeling looser and I can 'feel' how much fitter I'm getting, but the scales are very confusing obviously...I've put on a pound since Friday, but I know that isn't a reflection of my weight loss. It's likely I've probably lost a couple of lbs of fat and put on a couple of lbs in muscle. I'm hoping that if I keep going the 'newbie' muscle gains will slow down and my actual weight in numbers will drop again.
I'd like to focus more on how I look now that I've gotten rid of a large chunk of my weight, but the scales are still very much where the evidence is shown in numbers.
I'll just have to bare the depressing scales and focus on how much fitter and stronger I'm getting :) having said that...this Friday it'll be 4 weeks til my 25th birthday, and right now I'm still 9lbs away from my goal for that date...
Weigh in day on Friday I can hopefully at least lose a lb, that way I'll be posting the same weight as last week...except this time it'll be more muscle than fat haha!

Weigh in day No: 22
Weigh in day again!
And this time for the first time in a few weeks I can put some awesome results up!
As my regular readers know the last 4 weeks or so have produced no weight loss. Partly due to being stuck inside for a few solid weeks revising for exams etc. This led me to come off the wagon a bit. I didn't put on much weight, but I also didn't lose any! It also caused a plateau. My lowest weight to date was 5 weeks ago and I clocked in at 18st 0 and 3/4 but steadily that did rise again back to 18st 4 and 3/4 last week.
This week I got right back on track and totally revamped my workout routine to include a lot more strength training!
This week I dropped 3lbs!
So now I sit at 18st 1 and 3/4! ( approx 254lbs )
This is an awesome result because it means what I'm doing is working and I'm confident that my plateau of 18st will be broken by next weigh in day and I'll be into the 17's!
It's 5 weeks today until my 25th birthday, and as you know this blog is entitled 'Challenge 25'. I wanted to hit my 25th birthday weighing 17st 7lbs as an initial target goal and if I keep it up that goal is WELL within sight now!

I am a little disappointed in myself knowing that if I didn't have a month of no weight loss due to exams and revision then I could be beating that target by a LOT. But the main thing is I didn't regain 10's of lbs again like my previous weight loss attempts AND I've managed to get back on track and feeling motivated again.
Now it's time for a late breakfast before another day of Gym and good feeds ;)

Midweek update! (kind of)
Meant to do this update yesterday as a midweek update seeing as tomorrow is a weigh in day, but never mind!
Things are finally moving properly again! The scales are moving down and I'm managing to keep the food and exercise on track in full! It looks like my extra weight lifting combined with cardio is definitely the way to break this plateau. As of my last update on saturday I didn't actually get fully back on track til Monday, so I'm expecting tomorrow to post only a loss of around 1 - 2lbs but it's still a loss! within the next week or so I'll FINALLY be past this plateau and into the 17's.
With just 5 weeks til my 25th birthday all that's on my mind is reaching my goal of 17.5st for that day.

Weigh in day No. 21 (late)
Sorry this is a date late!
My weight yesterday was still at 18st 4lbs and 3/4
seems I've hit a plateau! My body doesn't seem to want to shed the lbs as much doing the same sort of diet and exercises as I have been for the last 4 months, so I think in order to push through and get the last 3 or so stone off I'm gonna have to shake things up a bit!
Today I'm looking at various different ways of increasing the amount of strength and muscle training in my regime. Up until now I've only really been doing a small amount to keep my muscles alive and kicking (as opposed to them losing mass through Cardio alone) But now I think it's time to start increasing this.
From what I've researched if I increase my muscle building and strength training exercises alongside my cardio I should increase my metabolism and my 'calorie burning capabilities' by a good amount! Not only that but the afterburn effect you get from muscle training can lead your body to burn more fat and calories for up to 36 hours or so after your workout has finished.
I'll also change my diet up a bit if I can. I'll be eating more porridge oats and brown/seeded bread to fuel the muscle building with Glycogen and carbohydrates. I'll also be trying a new technique I've discovered which theorizes that if you do your weight training first and do your cardio AFTER your weight training, you deplete your body's store of Glycogen before the cardio and therefore will burn fat more efficiently during the cardio session.
It's all pretty exciting! I'm just trying not to lose motivation after this plateau of around 18st has been plagueing me for WEEKS!! Well over a month now. Which is completely not ideal at all. The good news is, as before, my weight isn't rocketing upwards again as in previous attempts to lose weight. I've still shed 50lbs since the start of this and kept it off. But still, it can't be ignored that there is still a good 42lbs left to go before I'll be a fit and healthy weight!
Also...It's 6 weeks til my 25th birthday, and I have 12lbs to lose in that time to hit my goal. So it's crunch time! The annoying thing is whilst I'll be muscle building it's likely I'll pack on a couple of lbs one of the weeks as my muscle grow. But I'd like to start focussing MORE on the looks and LESS on the numbers on the scale, so I don't mind so much.
Hopefully I'll have a midweek update for you all saying that I'm making great progress with the new plan!

So let's recap!
Sorry for not posting a weigh in on Friday!
I felt it best not to do so as I'm still on the kick-start from the slowdown that I had as a result of locking myself away in Revision mode!
Basically it stands like this as of now
I'm 18st 2lbs. So I haven't lost any weight in a good few weeks, but the good news is I've only put on 2lbs in that time and my weight hasn't sky rocketed - I'll be posting a weigh in on Friday 7th June and I'm VERY confident that I will drop into the 17st bracket for the first time EVER ;) Which means within this week I'll be fully back on the downslope to my goals ;)
I've been back at the gym and serious dieting since Thursday, having a day off the gym today but I think I'll be going every single day this week to ensure that I start getting back on the downslope.
I'm also shaking my diet up a bit including a lot more lean protein and a lot less carbohydrate. Not to the point where my body is deprived of carbs in a low-carb diet sort of manner but to the point where I'm not loading up my energy stores with tons of carbohydrate which may not all get burned off in a days exercise.
So don't worry! Everything is still very much in hand. It's actually VERY VERY encouraging that after 2/3 weeks of slacking off for revision my weight only raised by a few lbs. This shows that the way I'm doing this is ACTUALLY burning the fat and changing my body. Most fad diets or people who have lost weight the wrong way result in rapid and huge weight gain when the plans start to slip. But this proves by simply calorie counting/cutting and exercising like a bitch the weight comes off properly!
I'll try to keep the blogs to a daily update from now on.
