So it's the weekend once more, which means MORE time for burning!
I had the day off the gym yesterday because my legs are currently in AGONY after introducing a squat program into my routine, but today I must get straight back in sometime after lunch :)
I need to burn off some calories but also some frustration thanks to student loan company being dicks!
I think my body is finally reaching the stage where it's starting to take it's fat from my stomach! This was getting me really annoyed initially because it seemed like my fat stores were being used everywhere else EXCEPT my massive gut! Thankfully now, the stomach is coming down! In fact, I went to the opera last night in one of my DADS shirts (Now mine ;))!! Which is a bit unbelievable, it wasn't TOO tight but it certainly wasn't loose either, In fact - I looked pretty fucking awesome!
Foodwise yesterday I think I relaxed my rules a wee bit too much because I was so dam happy with my result haha! I'm a little bit heavier this morning, only by a pound and 3/4 though - so that's likely to be just 'dead' weight from the munching. It'll be gone by Monday :)
I think I want to be realistic and possibly aim for a 2lb loss this Friday...obviously If I get more than that I won't be complaining - but I'm SO close to breaking the 3 and a half stone lost mark, and if I get down to 18st 4 this Friday that'll be me there!
The transformation is astonishing so far - I really can't wait to upload tons of awesome pictures in July for you all to see! ;)
Some of you have asked me about some of the thins I'm doing and I always reply with the same old thing, eat less and move more! I really wish there was more to it than that and I could tell you all the Miracle secret to weight loss - but there really is no secret...
However...
There are a few small changes you can make to your lifestyle that WILL help this a LOT...things that I definitely owe my success to.
You can agree or disagree with any of these points but they are all EASY to do, and they WILL alter your life and your success significantly - I am the living proof.
1. Do not eat late at night - I prefer to not eat anything after 6:30pm at the LATEST If I possibly can manage it.
2. HAVE breakfast! - You here this so often, but it's true. I never used to but now I always have something for breakfast, and I'm not talking about a single slice of toast...Have a bowl of cereal or egg on 2 slices of toast - something that will give you up to perhaps 400 calories. This way you won't snack in the morning and you will have a nice light lunch, leaving you plenty of calories for dinner and the odd snack too!
3. Write down EVERYTHING you consume and EVERY LAST CALORIE that's in it - it sounds hard, it sounds OCD, But seriously...it puts everything in perspective and it makes sure you don't over eat your calorie allowance for the day - if you have a smartphone get the app 'My fitness pal' - I would be LOST without it.
4. Don't have a gym buddy - Now this is a strange one! Usually everyone says the opposite, but I've found going to the gym by myself mean I can do what I want, when I want, go to the gym when I want and leave when I want! Also, if your gym buddy decides they don't want to go one day YOU are likely to bail too because you won't be used to going by yourself - Go it alone, Its your journey :)
5. Weigh yourself every day - Again, something most people are mixed about. I do it because it allows me to track my progress, so if I'm gonna have a bad weigh in day - I know about it in advance instead of getting overly depressed and thinking a whole weeks work was for nothing (this can lead to failure!) - but also, if I have a bad night, when I weigh myself in the morning I will get frustrated at the extra weight it added and work harder in the gym!
6. Drink tons of water - this is a NO brainer, Just do it!
7. Alcohol - reduce the intake VASTLY!! You seriously do NOT understand how many calories are in alcohol, well...maybe you do! But you choose to ignore it. I can pick out hundreds of people on Facebook who will say 'No I better not have that 300 calorie donut, it's got 300 calories in it for fucks sake!!!' But then they will go out at night happily enough and consume probably 1000+ calories in alcohol alone! (With EASE!) I only drink once every month or so, probably even less now. It's empty calories...
8. Ignore fad diets - Seriously, just do it. If you want to lose weight and alter your lifestyle, then going on the Atkins diet, cabbage soup diet, fruit diet or anything like that is not the way forward. Why? It's not sustainable, it doesn't teach you anything about portion control or self control and it's just not healthy either! The MOST successful way is calorie control! Get a BMR calculator and work out your Basal metabolic rate (The amount of calories you burn just being alive) and then reduce this by a good chunk - maybe start with 500 - 1000 calories initially, depending how much you want to lose weight. Combine this with exercise and science states factually you WILL lose weight. Honestly...I have so many people disagree with this but it's ACTUAL FACT. For FIFTEEN WEEKS running I have eaten based ONLY on calorie control only, I still eat chocolate, bacon, sausages, mashed potatoes, plenty of past and bread, steaks, chicken, everything you can imagine....as long as it's in my calories allowance!
9. Exercise must be tough - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but going for the odd walk now and then isn't enough. OK, it will help you lose weight - but it won't make you fit, and it won't prepare your body for sustainability mode. I go to the gym 5 days a week and work til I'm soaked in sweat and absolutely exhausted. As a result all my muscles are toning up nicely, I feel physically fit, I have BUCKETS of energy and I'm losing weight every single weight. If you just go walking a few times a week your body will get used to this regular and easy activity and the amount of calories it burns up for the walking will gradually reduce.
I can't think of any more right now, but there is bound to be more I'll give away another time!
